Dr. Don Hamer
Our Newest Optometrist at Beyer!
Dr. Hamer brings over 25 years of patient care experience to the practice. He received his B.S. in Biology from Indiana University in 1984, then went on to receive his Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University in 1988. He practiced in the Air Force for 20 years, from which he retired, then was in private practice for 5 years, until he decided to move to this beautiful region of the the world.
He has practiced as an optometric physician to all age groups, and in many parts of the world. Among his many accolades, he was twice awarded Optometrist of the year for both Pacific Air Forces and United State Armed Forces in Europe. He was an associate professor for University of Houston, Southern California College of Optometry, and University of Alabama schools of optometry. While in the Air Force, he was trained and then became the chief of Air Force Laser Vision Correction Programs at Eielsen Air Force Base in Alaska, and Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.
He is conversant in German and Spanish, enjoys skiing, hiking, sailing or anything in the water or outdoors (“because I spend my work day in a dark room!”).
We are both excited and proud to add Dr. Hamer to our practice!
